Athlone Grand Prix athletics going live on Irish TV


Next Wednesday’s AIT International Arena Grand Prix indoor athletics meeting in Athlone will be broadcast live on Irish TV and YouTube.

400m world indoor champion Pavel Maslak of the Czech Republic and pole vault world champion Shawn Barber of Canada head the international field, along with fellow 2015 World Championship medallists Melissa Bishop and Gesa Krause – who won at this meeting last year – plus 2012 European 200m champion Churandy Martina of the Netherlands.

A strong Irish contingent will be present, including Brian Gregan, Ciarán Ó Lionáird, Dara Kervick, Eoin Everard, Laura Crowe, Rose-Anne Galligan, Kerry O’Flaherty, Sara Treacy, Phil Healy, Sarah Lavin, Amy Foster, Marcus Lawler, Timmy Crowe and Niall Tuohy.

Host Tulsen Tollett heads the usual independent television athletics commentary team of Will Downing, Dick Hooper and 400m hurdler Jessie Barr.

Sponsored by AIT Sport, coverage of the Irish Sports Network production runs from 7-10pm and can be found in Ireland on Sky 191, eirVision 191, Freesat 400 and, plus also live on YouTube, and will also be available in the UK on the same services.

Highlights will be broadcast on Irish TV, Setanta Ireland, in the UK on Premier Sports, and in 25 countries across Africa on Fox Sports.
