Irish boxing captain Darren O’Neill is due to fight closer to midday when the Kilkenny heavyweight takes on Romania’s Ionut Jitaru.
In the afternoon, national bantamweight champion Kurt Walker from the Canal BC in Lisburn fights Bakhtovar Nazirov of Russia, while in the evening session commencing at 4:15 Irish time, Portlaoise middleweight Michael O’Reilly comes up against Sanjin Pol Vrgoc of Croatia.
Ireland’s Jenny Egan has finished 15th overall early this morning in the women’s K1 500m in the canoe sprint, as she took sixth place in the B Final. Gold went to Danuta Kozak of Hungary.
Recent European Championships bronze-medallist Egan competes again later today in a field of 24 in the K1 5000m final, with her brother Peter Egan going in the men’s decider, where there are 29 starters.
Andrzej Jezierski will be in the B Final of the C1 200m canoe sprint.
Currently in competition are Derek Burnett in shooting and Darren Wallace in archery – the latter was lying 52nd early on in the men’s individual ranking round.
Sinead Cuthbert Cunningham is in the women’s equivalent from 10am Irish time.
